Sri Ganesha Sloka 3 - Vakrathunda mahakaaya

Lord Ganesha is considered to be the God who removes all the obstacles. Hence, the name Vighneshwara or Vighnanayaka. Below is the sloka through which devotee can request Lord Ganapathi to shower his grace by praising him.


Vakrathunda mahakaaya sooryakoti samaprabha |
Nirvighnam kurumae dhaeva sarvakaaryaeshu sarvadhaa ||
or
వక్రతుండ మహకాయ సూర్యకోటి సమప్రభ |
నిర్విఘ్నం కురుమే దేవ సర్వకార్యేషు సర్వదా ||






Word to word:
Vakra – Curved; Tunda- Trunk, Maha – Big (massive), Kaaya – Body, Surya – Sun, Koti – 10 million, Sama – Equal; Prabha – splendor ; Nir Vighnam - Without obstacles, Kurumae - Bless; Deva – God, Sarva – All; Kaaryeshu – Work (effort); Sarvadaa - Always

Meaning:
Oh Lord Vighnanayaka, who has a twisted trunk and mighty body, radiance equal to that of million suns, always bless me by removing all the obstacles that I may come across my work.
